Checking Motorcycle Tire Wear
A Simple Yet Essential Step for Your Safety
WHEN SHOULD YOU REPLACE YOUR TIRES ?
BEST PRACTICES
• For road - approved tires , riders must closely monitor tire wear to remain compliant with the legal tread depth in their
country , which may vary . The 0 . 8 mm raised indicators allow for quick and easy checks of the remaining tread depth .
• For non - road - approved tires , if any one of the wear indicator cavities is no longer visible , the tire is considered worn and
must be replaced immediately .
• Check your tire wear at least once a month , or before any long ride .
• Inspect multiple areas across the tread to detect any uneven wear .
• If in doubt , or if you notice visible damage such as cracks , deformities , or embedded objects , have your tires inspected by
your MICHELIN dealer .
